6.5" Jensens don't fit 91 Accord... Why?
Merry Christmas to All !
Ijust bought 6.5" Jensen speakers (model JPS365) to replace the stock speakers as a Christmas present for my wife's 1991 Accord. I first tried installing the rear speakers and thought they would drop right into the existing brackets, but the Jensens are a little larger in diameter and won't fit in the brackets. It seems that the original factory speakers areslightly smaller in diameter (just over 6 inches).
Is there an easy fix, and can I expect to have the same trouble with the brackets on the front speakers? Everything I've read says this car should take 6.5" speakers (all around) but when push comes to shove, they are too large to fit. Thanks for any help or advice!

Hey
Both the front and the back speaker brakets are 6.5" but the honda speakers are really small for depth and width. Most after market 6.5" speakers i've come accross won't fit into the honda braket without a little custom work ( drilling and cutting ). For the rear speakers in my car I put cheap pioneers which already had the proper screw holes that lines up, this was one of the only brands that actually custom drilled so it would fit into a honda, I tried getting both infinity and alpine in the rear and they wouldn't go in unless i drilled new holes. As for the front that and even bigger head ache to install my new alpines and had the remove the plastic speaker holders from the door take it inside to my workshop and cut the botton out of it because the aplines had a longer depth. As for the screw holes they didn't line up with the alpines so I hauled out the drill and went to work. So this is the type of custom work you will need to do on the rear and front speaker brackets in your accord.
hoped this helped, if you need any more info on audio installation in this type of car lemme know

Yeah, the fronts are a pain in the butt. Good luck. Just make sure the depth of your speakers arent to deep. Hondas need speakers with about a max depth of 1 1/16, or around there. Any bigger and the window wont be ble to close all the way.
