Question Accord 2004 radio problem...

Hi guys!
The radio in my Honda Accord does not always work. Sometimes I start the car and it does not work. Other times, it works and starts to decrease in intensity on the screen of the radio and then eventually shut down and the music stops. Sometimes the radio could works during few hours and sometime we talk about some minutes or seconds... -___-

Are there a solution to that problem?

I call my Honda dealer and he wanted to make an estimate of repair costs but it costs $60!

Thanks for all eventual responses.
Antoine.

$60 dollars is cheap. If he can fix it for 60 I would go that route probably gonna be the cheapest route.

Tanks Neophyte but $60 is only for the estimate... That problem will be repair with minimum 2-3 hours of work at $120-$140/ hour... And this is the "minimum" that my dealer told me.

Thanks

more than likely it is a internal problem in the radio. you are probably going to just need to replace the head unit.

the dealer cannot repair a head unit. they can only replace it for $400-$600 (average quotes we've seen). the $60 estimate charge is a scam, they know they cannot repair it. failure is common with this generation of head unit (not made by Honda and not a reflection of their own quality). Panasonic made Honda head units.

the only other option is a slight short in one of the rear speakers, which can happen if stuff is crammed in there and damages the speaker terminals/tinsel leads.
