I bought a iSimple Basic Control system (model IS77) from Best Buy. It ties in with the back of your radio. It works with iPhones and with my Zune and was great buy. It costs about $70 and with BestBuy installation a total of about $200.

Hope this helps.

Sure, there are several pieces to that install. Even at $35/hr it is a fair price.

its not the work by the hour or anything like that it is simply that i would have a hard time paying someone almost double the cost of an item to put it in.

I hear ya. I DIY because I don't want to pay someone else. But some people just don't have the time or desire. While I think I am ahead by DIY, I lose out. My time is worth more than what I save, but I also enjoy the process. I like the challenge of tackling something for the first time.

Back when I was sales/installation for a home theater store, I had customers come in from Chicago for their summer homes on an upper scale golf course (Michael Jordan has a summer home there). I was charging $100/hr to basically re-wire their existing equipment, and then selling them new wire on top of that. Had one house that had two entertainment systems that I rewired, added surge protection, universal remotes, and it came to $1,400. In the end, everything looked the same, except it worked better than ever and they knew how to use it. They were repeat customers after that, picked up speakers, TV's, etc from me in the following years, very happy with my service. I was amazed they weren't pissed about the price! My rates back then were $50/hr if I sold it to you, $75/hr-$100/hr if you bought it somewhere else or it was existing/rats nest. Everyone was pleased after I left, regardless of what the end price was.

Now I bill at $30-$40/hr for my time on side jobs, and my company bills me at $120/hr (but that's a different situation).

I drove into Best Buy at about 11:30 and dropped off the car. Walked to Red Rock Station and enjoyed their wonderful buffet for lunch ($6.50 with a coupon), then walked back to Best Buy and picked up my car. Install worked and appears to have been professionally done. Was treated courteously.

Definitely worth the price in my opinion.

once again not saying anything bad about best buy. i am sure they do good work. and it was fast as you said. I,personally, would have a hard time paying someone that much. but as kha said I do enjoy doing the work myself as well.
