Default After market headunit below factory radio

I have a 2006 accord and I ordered a after market head unit and an adapter that allows me to replace the pocket and put an aftermarket head unit there. The reason for this is that I don't want to have to take out the factory radio. My question is where can I coonect the aftermarket head unit. Originally I was hoping I could get a wiring harness that would come out of the aux at the bottom of the factory radio but I'm not sure if this is possible. Is the only other way to do this to disconnect the factory harness and connect it that way? Any advice would be a great help. Thanks

I am not sure where you got your harness from but the one that comes from crutchfield (which is probably the same as you got from wherever else) is made for that purpose. it will have a plug to go into your factory head unit to power it as well as one that goes into the aftermarket to power it and get the signal for the sound.

It will look like this:

Here is the link to buy it:

First of all thank you for the fast reply. The harness I got from sonix electronix when I ordered my head unit said it was for the factory wiring harness. The one that you showed me allows you to leave the factory headunit connected and functioning? I'm confused on where that one gets hooked up too? I'm guessing the wires get hooked up to the aftermarket deck the blue harness in the aux of the factory head unit and the white one to ???

You want a harness specific for your task, that has plugs on both ends with wires that connect to the aftermarket, leaving the factory powered.

I will look for the exact model

Note this kit includes the harness

Honda Accord 2003+ Dash & Wiring Harness Kit (Lower) [Ai] - American International - HONK823H

Kit with harness or just buy a 70-1721 and 71-1721 and make your own interface harness. Speaker wires go to the new aftermarket and you splice in the power and ground.

the kit keep hope alive posted is the same one that I ordered. it comes with that harness pictured. the white end plugs into the factory plug. the blue one goes into the head unit where the factory plug came out of (that blue piece will plug into that white piece, you wont do this but it will do it.) you wire the loose wires into the aftermarket headunit harness and plug it in to your head unit. the factory one stays powered and the new one works. no sound will come from the factory unit. notice the blue plug has no speaker wires.

please excuse the crewed drawing but i did it in paint.
