Default Amp connected to a switch?

Anyone ever hook a amp turn on lead to a rocker switch? Is this possible? I have a old lighted rocker switch in my garage still in the package and I was just going to hook my amp up to my factory H/U and I saw that and thought I could run the power wire to the battery and then ground it and run the turn on lead to the amp so I can turn the amp on and off anytime I wanted. This work anyone do it before. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Default RE: Amp connected to a switch?

Me and my brothers hooked up one of his amps like that back in the day... I'm sure it would work on the newer amps as well just use the amp turn on indicator like you are thinking (normally a blue lead off the head unit I think).....
