Default Amp problem

I am having an issue with the amp for my subs. The power seems to be intermittent. I thought that the wire didn't have a good connection to the connector so I seperated it and reconnected it but I still have the problem. I noticed a spark(scared the hell outta me) when I screwed the connector to the amp. I also noticed that if I press down on the connector when the power is acting up, the amp will come back on. Could it be that the connector that is holding my power wire is bad?

Is it the correct gauge? Are the connectors clean?

Yes, it is 4 gauge. I took it apart and looked at the connectors, and they seem to be clean. I flipped the connector holdin the poewr wire and it seemed to screw in more securely. It hasn't happened again since I did that so I'll see what happens.
