Default cd player says "err"

new here so bear with me.

I just bought an accord used, and everything is great. I only have one problem.

the radio works great, but the cd player wont load a cd. when you press "cd" on the radio, it says "err"

I've messed around with acuras before, and they usually have a code when you replace the battery, but that effects the entire radio. this is just the cd option.

so has anyone run into this before, and what could i do to fix it.

it's a 1998 accord, picture of it:

Sounds like the loading mechanism is broken. You really should upgrade the radio to an aftermarket radio anyways.

appreciate the reply.

I plan to upgrade to an aftermarket head unit but i really like the double-din setup, and i dont like the looks of the aftermarket dash kits for the single din units.

I agree, I had single DIN in my suburban, but I had a flip out in dash so it covered it a bit. You should get a double DIN radio then. There not as common, but they're there.

EDIT: Something like THIS. Its a a good headunit and a good price, even comes with the iPod interface. Before buying a double DIN, verify on here that the stock radio is a true double DIN.

Have you tried the unlock code just for the heck of it? Is a CD stuck in the mechanism?
