Well, I guess it's about time. I sucked it up today and bought a head unit. I've had my 1000ish watt rms premier amp pumping my 2 twelve inch premier subs, and had the stock setup... Blegh. I got a pioneer DEH 4200UB. (I'm a bit biased to pioneer/premier... My whole setup is...) I also got the cubby adapter, cuz I've heard countless bad things about the metra replacement kit. I ordered both off eBay, so hopefully I'll have them both by next weekend... I'm pretty excited

So I got the unit installed yesterday. It looks slick. I was worried it would look awkward, or that my shift might get in the way of the controls or ejecting a CD in 3rd gear, but there's enough space that it's not an issue.

nice kit - i like the fit. Pioneer makes some nice head units - good looks and nice features, you just need to be careful handling RCA's if you add an amp. Pioneer HU's have a small diode on the RCA shield that will pop if you even look at it strange. Usually when someone leaves the HU on and makes connections. Always make connections with the HU off. If that happens you get a lot of noise and alt whine, then you need to ground the RCA shield yourself.
