Default Garmin in 03-04 body style

Good morning everyone, I just recently bought the Garmin nuvi 1490 for my 07 Accord SE, and I have been playing around with where to put it on the dash, like whether to mount it on the window, or the dashboard itself. I did try it on the window, and I felt like it was impeding my view a bit, I was thinking of putting it on the dash, but I was worried about the sticky stuff leaving residue in the case I need to take it off. Any suggestions or experiences with your cars?

Do you ever have an issue raching it by any chance if anything needs to be changed?

integrating the handheld Navi into a car is usually a balance of form and function. you want it accessible and visible while allowing you to see the road (i.e. above the dash) but you don't want to impede your vision.

the left side of the windshield, located so it is just above the level of the dash next to the A-pillar has worked well in several cars. you can still use the windshield mount, but as low left as you can get it.

try that and take pics!

this location also lets you add a socket off the fuse box and hide the wiring. use a fuse tap and just buy a lighter socket with a pigtail you can connect to the fuse tap.

I actually just bought the car so I don't know if I'll be doing any add-ons just yet with it. The wiring of it brings up another question, where I have it right now on the windshield above the dash, the wire just falls down and hooks itself on the temperature control wheel. Do you know if there's anything out there which would clip it to the dash without it looking hokey?

I only use mine when traveling. It does not stay up there. So when I do use it the wires just hang. 90% of the time it is not in my car. I do not have any trouble reaching it and it does not impede my vision. If you are trying to find a permanent location that probably is not the best place.
