I was looking around online and came across this http://www.gtechpro.com/test.htmlany validity to their claims? There saying that they can pick up RPM's and detect HP from the cig lighter. Sounds like a load of bull to me, but sure would be helpful if it were real. reasonable price for the kind of data it provides. Any thoughts?

my brother's friend had one in an Eclipse GT and it was acurate to within like 100 rpm's and HP estimates seem to be pretty close too. From what I heard and saw they actually work pretty dang good. It will never be as acurate as "hardwired" systems but for the price and what it does I'd say it's more than effective from what I've seen.

well in that case i may just have to pick one up. Just out of curiosity how much would a hardwired system go for?

when I say hardwired system I'm talking about a digital tachometer and full computer readout system.... they're expensive to say the least.... Pectel makes most of the WRC rally computers and will tell you everything for 2 arms and a leg ($2500 on up I think...).... or there is a variety of software/cable setups that will connect a laptop to the car and allow you to have the same readout but require you to have a laptop of course....
