HP filter on speaker amp affecting sub amp
#12
When i had the system installed the HP filter was not on at all. though he had the crossover set very high. When i turn on the HP filter it changes the bass coming from the sub dramatically. enough to go, woah that just changed something it shouldn't have.

When you set the crossover to full you are turning it off, so what ever the Xover frequency is set to it's irrelevant. There is absolutely no way possible to affect the sound of a second amp. Try pulling the fuses or disconnect the ground on the speaker amp and see if the sub amp changes. If it doesn't then you are just mistakn and think that amp is affecting it, if it does change then you have eventered the twilite zone.

It will change the sound - drastically if you have it set very high but I can see no way it changes the sound from the subs.
Try this - disconnect the RCA's from the amp and turn everything on so only the sub is playing. Now while listening to the sub, flip the HP on and off. If you hear the sub change youve got a problem. If you dont hear it change, youre mind is just playing tricks on you and telling you when the midbass is cut out of your front speakers, its the sub thats losing output.

ive gotten to the bottom of it so far. its only on the 3/4 channel part of the speaker amp that when i switch on the hp filter it affects the subs. i will say that the back speakers are hitting pretty hard but the front speakers do not. the back speakers are basically going with the subs. when i have the HP filter on the 3/4 channel the crossover dial affects the subs.
