I ve got radio problems. I replaced the battery im my 98 accord ex 5 years ago and had no problem resetting the radio code, had the code on a plastic card that came with the car brand new. replaced the battery today, and the code doesn't work now, i keep getting an error code. the original card has the ...serial # ...93C838387, and the code...14513, but it wont work this time, the old lady's gunna have a fit without her radio, the cars only got 180,000 miles on it, she wants a new one, but aint got the bucks for 1 right now, and if i cant fix the radio, she might want something other than a honda, and we aint even goin there. any ideas or help appreciated, it will save my #ss.

Along with other stuff, it should tell you the radio code. Maybe you got the wrong card???

My Accord came with TWO different cards. one was correct, one wasn't. No idea what that was all about, maybe the previous owner had a replacement at some time.

You only get like 5 tries before it's locked. Any Honda dealership should be able to unlock it.

 

i didn't know it but the accord also came with 2 original radio code cards. the ole lady said she had the good 1 in her purse, maybe it had the radio replaced when new ?? threw me for a loop though. Thanx for the repys.

 

glad you got it resolved. strange we both had two different cards. apparently, Honda has a sense of humor.

 

NOTE:

Next time you do any work that requires the battery to be disconnected, hook up a 9V battery to the Cigarette Lighter. There are kits, $3-4 that plug into your lighter, then simply hook up the 9v. This prevents your stereo from turning off/losing power so you won't have to reset the radio stations or enter a code.

 

^ the code is pretty easy enter in.

however, if you don't have the code, this can help you maintain - but i would pull the fuse for courtesy lighting so the battery isn't drained by the dome lights.
