Default New Metra 7803G problem

Hello. I just installed this new radio/HVAC system in my 2004 Accord yesterday along with a Kenwood KDC-X395 CD Receiver
and I thought everything worked fine, until I started it this morning and realized that the HVAC buttons do not light up. I had to turn the inside lights on to turn on the heater. A search online found a post saying that in another Honda forum, it was determined that the Metra wiring instructions were wrong, but I have not been able to find an answer. I contacted both Crutchfield( where I bought it) and Metra, but have not been able to find a solution. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Crutchfield and Metra should both be able to tell you which wires to ensure have power in order to have working lights. you will need to use a DMM to measure voltage at the harness to verify if it is an internal issue with the kit or a wiring/fuse issue with the car/install. have you verified the fuse serving the dash lighting is good?
