A new user has some questions about sub/amp setups
Yeah, lots of great information from keep_hope_alive in here.
For an update, I haven't been able to get the money or time to drive to the shop and have them looks at my car. I've mostly just searching eBay to see if I can score a 1000/1v2 for below $400. Undecided about the whole enclosure scenario until the shop gives me their opinion.

I've been talking to a bunch of dealers recently as I'm interested in the Ascendant Audio subs, specifically the Havoc. It takes a lot of power to push and was wondering if a RF amp would suffice as they run relatively cheap.
These are dirt cheap though yet I have no idea how they will fare: and Here is the AA site with their specs:

HiFonics are overrated amps, the won't make rated power under normal circumstances. Assume 60% of their rating is usable and the price makes sense.
Power costs money. Power at 1 ohm is fairly cheap. PowerBass is affordable and makes rated power.

How do you feel about Rockford Fosgate amps? I can get a RF 1500 bd for pretty cheap used off of someone.

So I plan on running the following now:
Sub: http://www.ascendantaudio.com/havoc.php 12"
Amp: Rockford Fosgate T1500
I have 4 gauge wire so I'll probably have to drive down to 0, especially if I want to run mids with an amp down the road. So do I only have to change out the power wire? I can use all the other parts from the 4g kit, yes?
Also, do you think I would need to go as far as to buy a battery/cap? I don't want to screw up the electrical system.

you need a separate 1/0 amp kit if you want to upgrade to 1/0. the fuse holder, ring terminals, etc. are all currently sized for 4awg and won't fit 1/0. you can just use the 4awg you have now and add 4awg for a future amp. two runs of 4awg are fine and a cheaper option.
4awg is good for 125A - verify the amp fusing requirements.

or look for a good amp used.
