We recently bought a used 06 ELX with nav and auto climate control. Yesterday I installed a USAPEC MP3 player and install went fine. Drove car last nite all was happy. (was nice out and no AC or climate control was used).

This morning wife drove to work and tried to use AC or heat for 1st time and at first she said there was no ACand the LCD readout for drivers and passenger side temp wouldn't change. She was in bad traffic so gave up until later in the commute and worked OK. We leave tomorrow for 800 mile trip and I am scared there is lose conection or something wrong. We are just learning to operate the car so it is possible the climate control was turned off or something. Maybe I am grasping at straws, but since the battery was disconnected is there something in software that would have made the CC act differently until she "turned" something on?

 

You are right on. When the battery is disconnected, the car sees that as an attempted theft. You will need to reenter the codes for nav and radio and climate control. They should be in your owners manual or in some of the paperwork you received with the car. In a pinch, a dealer can recover them.

 

Yes, I had to enter nav and radio codes right away before anything worked.

But It has been several days and we are in middle of trip, have put about 1000 miles on car and seems to be working fine. Hopefully it wasa glitch in 1st time use or operator error.
