It is under recall/warranty andthey should not charge you a dime if the car has 100k miles or less.
There IS a Honda Service Bulletin: Google honda service bulletin 04-027 and click on the first link that pops up. Print that out and bring it to the dealer. If they refuse free service tell them you are going to report them to Honda of America.

There is actually an update to that recall. Go to the DIY section. deserthonda's 4th post from the top. Click the link provided. Username: user; Passwordassword. Once logged in scroll to the bottom and click on Auto Repair Reference Center, select your car and click on the recalls link.

Click on the DIY section on this website. If you go to the top of this page, click on "Honda Accord Forum" then scroll down till you see the DIY (Do It Yourself) section.

So here's the update - I did EXACTLY what you guys have told me - the manager of the service department *apologized* that they asked for $60.
I went there, the took a look - and answered they have to order the part from Honda - and they'll give me a call in 3 days. So I'm waiting for my brand new stereo - and I WILL KEEP UPDATING !

i wonder.... my radio actually burned out and burns every fuse i try to throw at it. but since i tried splicing directly to the radio harness, i dont think i can prove that i did it properly (and im pretty sure i did) what do you guys think?

Worse case scenario, i have an 03 (should fit the 04 i believe?) stereo+dash for sale in the private classifieds
