radar dectector goes off when honk horn?
I have a passport escort X50 red version. and the other day when in school, i honked the horn and the radar detector went off with the words "laser" appearing. Honked the horn 7 times, one after another, and still displaying "laser". this was really funny but weird to see, while me and friends were puzzled. But now when i honk the horn nothing happens.
Does anybody know why my laser detector went off? is my $350 radar broken? its in excellent condition, not a single scratch.

I have the same radar dectector and my laser goes off at the oddest places and weirdest times where I know there is absolutely no chance the cops are hitting me with laser. Like in the middle of a parking lot in a huge steelmill, miles away from anything. So who knows.

yea im pretty sure i thur where no cops around. i was on a parking deck..THIRD LEVEL..haha..i have no clue why honking the horn will set off the radar detector. My friend has the escort 7500 and the radar goes off with "laser" appearing whenever someone calls the cell phone which is very annoying. and this happens every single time.

From Escort's site:
Laser Falsing
It is unusual to get false laser warnings. Some cars and other electronics put out more RF interference than others and that interference may cause a false laser alert when certain devices are used. Although rare, using the horn, windshield wipers, or accelerating, can generate RF interference in some vehicles. Does it do the same thing in other cars/trucks? New cell phones, new cars with laser adaptive cruise control, and the wind-shear equipment at some major airports can also cause false laser alerts.
If you are experiencing false laser alerts of this type, please call our Customer Service Department at 800-543-1608 and they will give you a repair authorization number and instructions on how to return to us. We will be able to make modifications to your detector that will help.
