Heh, while I had the rear speaker grilles out, my wife told me "you should install those speakers from the garage". They're from my Prelude, Infinity Kappa 5-1/4" speakers. She said the factory ones "suck" (yes, I know this). It's a shame I need a mounting adapter... and the wiring adapters make it real nice... By the time I buy those, I'd be better off buying new speakers from Crutchfield since they throw those parts in.

yea, plus you can fit much larger speakers in the rear deck than 5.25".

you can make a mounting adapter out of wood and foam, and adapt the wiring harness with small female disconnect terminals or remove the factory clip and put properly sized female disconnects on the factory wire.

Foam ?

Never considered adapting the wiring harness. I can do that though...

As for the 5-1/4" speakers, well, I've already got 'em, so I'd prefer to use 'em ! What about the front doors ? Do you happen to know if 5-1/4" speakers will bolt in as-is or is an adapter needed there too ? Crutchfield says one is needed.

adapters are needed regardless of speaker size in the front - the front speakers are a unique three point mount. make something instead of buying - all you need is a jig saw and a drill.

foam - yes - foam is your friend. weatherstripping foam - closed cell. you need seals and decoupling of the speaker and baffles. all of my speaker installs have foam on both sides of the speaker.

example of front speaker baffles i made for a Scion tC - same process as the accord
