Yea, it is just fine to use the middle wire on the RCA bundle as a remote wire. Just be careful that you properly insulate the connections. If the +12V remote wire touches the RCA shield, you damage the head unit and amp.

yeah, i sent back the crappy kit i originally had and got the fleks 4 AWG kit with interconnects. should be arriving shortly. it sounds like you guys like em so i probably will too. thanks for the advice.
