In the next week or three, I'll be completely gutting and rebuilding the audio system in my car... the parts are on their way at various speeds and there's still one thing I haven't figured out.

I've got a 95 accord and I have no f'ing clue how to run new speaker wire to the doors (especially the front doors). Using the stock wire really isn't an option... I'm trying to upgrade to at least a 16 gauge, maybe 12... What's the best way of running a new line? Is there any way to run it through the plastic boot or should I drill new holes? If I drill new holes, will the wire be safe exposed, or do i need to use some wire loom or something to protectg it?

run it thru the factory loom if u can

 

Why aren' the stock wires an option? How many watts are you planning to run to those speakers? It would be much easier to splice into the factory wires vs trying to get through the loom, which is pretty much impossible without destroying something. I doubt you would notice any difference in sound quality either unless you are running really high-end gear.

 

Ive changed wires in doors many times and the best way to do it is through the boot. It is a little harder but definitely the right way to do it.
