just purchased a used 04 accord el-x and i love it!! absolutely nothing wrong with the stock sound system but as a music enthusiast i'd definitely love something with a bit better bass response and clearer/crisper sound. any and all recommendations are much appreciated!! thanks all!

 

how far do you want to go? as in do you want to amp the system? add a sub? head unit?

as a car audio enthusiast I would say rip the whole system out and put in a nicer one. but that is not for everyone.

 

don't really wanna mess with the head unit but i'll do a couple hundred on speakers. would you say an amplifier is necessary? i'm willing to do what it needs for the sound.

if you are not going to amp the system there is not much point in replacing it. sending you a pm.

 

agreed. a simple speaker swap won't make a huge difference, but if you're already happy then it can result in a slight improvement. you need to maintain a component speaker system (separate tweeters). an external amplifier on new speakers is much more obvious of an improvement. properly sealing the doors in addition to upgrades is a night and day improvement.
