Default simple green for washing engine bay?

does anyone have a problem using simple green to wash their engine bay? I hear the smell was very bad. Some also said it can damage the spark plug wire? Also do i need to cover up the distibutor cap and the alternator and battery?

I just did mine a week ago. No problems here. It doesn't smell bad, smells pretty good to me.

Yes! Make sure you cover all electronic components! You could either ruin them or short them out, either blowing a fuse or damaging your whole electrical system. Not to mention a short of a car battery could cause it to explose. Ouch.

Unless it is beyond nasty you can likely dilute it with water by 50%.
