Default 2001 V6 is not holding a charge

Hi! This is going to be long but here goes. We purchased a 2001 Honda Accord V6 two days ago. We needed a new battery. Put the battery in, put the negative clamp on the positive post and the positive clamp accidnetly tapped the negative post. Battery sparks, blows main fuse. Change main fuse. Put brand new battery in. Drive around all night. Go to leave for work in the a.m., car makes it down the road and dies. Drag it home, decide it has to be that we blew the alternator when we cross wired the battery. Put a new alt in this morning, resecured the ground wire as it was loose. Battery still won't hold a charge. What other things could possibly be wrong?? Currently have bf checking the ACG fuse, but that's the only other thing I can think of the check. Is there anything else we should check? Now that I've blown $2600 on this POS I'm losing my patience but can't afford another vehicle
