DH,

Do you think a tune up can correct a 7-9mpg difference? I was just wondering becuase most cars will usually show other signs when MPG drops like that....

OP just a few things that I came up with

is your t-stat working correctly? I had a '94 where it had stuck open and my cars milage dropped by 3 mpg (went from 25.X to 23.X around town) because the ecu would not lock up the torque converter since it never saw the engine at operating temp

Does it take the car longer than usual to start? it usually take less than 2 second for my '94 to start when i put the key into the "start" position

are both of your temp sensors working? Even when my car had the tstat stuck open it was not until NOVEMBER before i noticed it....when my car had no heat and the guage only showed a little drop in the water temp

Ima take it to the shop this week, have them check the sensors. Maybe check the fuel system while they're at it.
I'll get it rebuild some time next year.

Eh well whatever, i dont have the time to do it myself, I'll just plop down the keys at the store and tell them to fix it.
