One thing you want to be careful of....are you sure that you are not burning off what was already in there?

Yes, do the compression test and or a leak down and see what that tells you.

There may have been a lot of coolant left from previous failed head gasket. Hopefully, will clear. Are you losing coolant?

Hey guys, you were correct. Must have been coolant in the exhaust system. Came home this evening and she started right up with no smoke. Drove around town and runs smooth as silk. Of course, half way home, I get a CEL. Gotta go figure out what that is all about now.

Well, a big thanks to all who chimed in with advice. She's all buttoned up and running like a champ. I got rid of the CEL by disconnecting the battery and it hasn't come back on. This forum is great and saved me a mint. Thanks guys.

Cool - we like a good ending to the story

Keep an eye on the temp and if the CEL comes back on, get the code.
