Default 97 Honda Accord wont Start-Fuel related?

I have a 97 Honda Accord LX 4 cylinder with 170,000 miles. Its been a wonderful car and has never let me down, until the other day.

Timing belt is ok(replaced a few months ago) and I'm getting fire. But motor spins over like it doesnt have any compression. Motor is tight and doesnt use any oil.

Is there an access panel to get to the fuel pump? Any other suggestions on what it could be other than fuel related? No CEL codes either.

Check if the distributor rotor is worn down. As for access to the fuel pump, I'm pretty sure you have to drop the tank to get to it. Let's hope I'm wrong, though!

My father has been working on it for me. Today he put some oil in the cylinders to get the compression built back up, then put some fuel in the intake and it has been running fine since it started. Something is causing it to flood the cylinders with gas and now we have to figure out what it is. Thoughts anyone?

Apparantly the fuel injectors stayed on and flooded the engine. It's running fine now. Just hope it doesnt happen again.

Just a thought, you have a main relay in the steering column for your fuel.

I would say before you drop your tank, unbolt your fuel line from your fuel rail (above filter easy to get to) and turn you key on...you should verify its bad before dropping the tank.

I had a starting issue with my 94, friends said it sounded like vapor lock. My car would crank, had spark...but wouldn't fire. Didn't happen all the time, but it got progressively more constant. Turned out to be the main relay-cost $65 at auto zone. There is a way to test it's resistance...had a friend test mine.

In the steering column? Just want to verify.

What Im thinking happened is that I jumped in the car when the engine was cold and moved it a few feet forward in my yard and shut it off. Apparantly it left a lot of raw gas in the cylinders when I shut it off. Then I let it sit for 2 days, and when I went to start it the fuel had washed the oil off the cylinders causing it to lose compression. Crazy! Cause I had never hear of that before. But when I tried to start it I know that it had no compression.

Now that we got it running it hasnt cause a problem yet. Im just very leary. If something is going bad, I wish it would go ahead and quit so I can chase it down.

Main fuel relay (MFR) can be very intermittent. It will generally show up when temps are warm. May go weeks and then turn up again.

Every time you start engine, turn keyswitch first to On (II) and listen carefully. You should hear a couple of soft clicks from under dash, MFR closing, and fuel pump in trunk come on for 2-3 secs and go off (another MFR click simutaneously), and Check Engine Light should go off w/ fuel pump. Then attempt to start.

If you don't hear the described sounds, and no-start occurs, you can be pretty sure MFR is the culprit.

If everything described above occurs and still no-start, ignition system (ignition switch, ignitor, or coil) is likely.

good luck
