99 Accord V6 shaking
Hi
I have purchased a '99 Accord V6 Coupe a month ago. The car has 120k miles on it. It is shaking and vibrating a lot these days, specially when driving at low speeds. It looks fine for highway speeds. A mechanic told me a month ago that the engine mounts are cracking up and i might have to work on those soon. Do you have any idea if the problem is because of the engine mounts or something else? Also, please let me know how much i need to spend to get the engine mount issue fixed (may be getting new mounts).
Thanks,
rshad.

RE: 99 Accord V6 shaking
Could very well be your problem. I have yet to check Honda engine mounts but with my old VW's I would have someone rev the engine while I looked under the hood. If I could see the mount(s) I would watch them to see how much play they had. This is not a real exact method but it might give you some idea of where to go.

RE: 99 Accord V6 shaking
if your mounts go bad, you car would shake at idle but it is highly unlikely that you would feel it shake while accellerating inbetween gear changes. something else is wrong if the car is shaking while moving forward and the car is not changing gears.... you would definately feel the car shake between shifts or slam gears but not shaking constantly at low speeds... he's got other issues
things to check
drive shafts
tire balance (maybe a weight came off of a front wheel as most of them are taped on if you have aluminum rims)

make sure to chk the tires for wear and a possible broken ply, bulges etc etc
