Hi all, new here. My car had its check engine light come on this morning. I saw and noticed my engine was low on oil so i put a couple quarts in to get the levels back up right on the dipstick measurement. The engine light remained on, i went to visit a mechanic friend at lunch who had a diagnostic tool he used for reading the car's electronic codes. The code that came up was 1259, is this related to the low oil? Do i have to head into the dealer to get this sensor reset?

P1259 is a VTEC System Malfunction. Low oil can definitely cause this.

Your mechanic friend should have reset the code when he read it. You can also disconnect the battery or pull the ECU fuse for 10 or so seconds to reset the computer.
