Default Amsoil oil anyone??

Hello everyone,

I have to ask the question...Anyone using Amsoil. Can I really go 25,000 miles without an oil change? Do you still change oil filters? I would like to hear from someone actively using this in an Accord. So I don't blow up a motor because of lack of oil changes. Lets hear some real world use in an Accord. I know diesels change less, but hey they use gallons of oil not quarts.

Thanks for input.

I used the Series 2000 for 3 years on my first car, a Z24 Cavalier. I used the oil for a year at a time. The filter got changed twice a year because they hadn't invented the nano filter yet. I did about 14,000 miles a year then. Never had an engine problem whatsoever.

The biggest problem you're going to have is keeping the oil level up over the year. I tried Mobil 1 15k once and found myself a quart low 7,500 miles later.

Without several oil analysis' to see how/if the oil is holding up you are playing with fire trying to use it for 25K. All conditions have to be absolutely perfect for that to really work. Without knowledge of how it is doingduring the termyou have no way to see what is really going on inside the engine. Don't do it just on faith.

I've seen reports where Mobil 1's "guaranteed" 15K mile oil was totally shot at 7000 miles. There are too many variables to even list so change it on a regular basis or pay for several oil analysis' in a row to get a good picture and recommendation on when to change.

I've been using Amsoil5w30 25k oilwith Nano 25k filterfor a couple of years. I never went longer than 7500 miles because the oil just looked awfuly dark on the dipstick, plus i had to top off once or twice, totaling about a quart.I know that color doesn't mean much and oil analisys is the way to truly know, but my instinct was telling me the oil wasn't as good as it once was. I changed the oil twice a year as well as filter(nano).I live in Chicago, so fresh oil goes in just before real cold sets in, late October to mid November, I drive on it until spring, and early March I would change it, and it would be black as night. Oil takes a beating during bitter coldcombined with not so long drives, when it doesn't get a chance to fully warm up. I haven't had any problems yet. This spring I put in Mobil 1, figured I'd try it out.
