Default BUILD AROUND F22B2???

JUST GOT A 95 LX COUPE AND WAS WANDERING IF AND WHAT I COULD DO TO BUILD AROUND THE F22B2 MOTOR WITH OUT DOING A SWAP.

Everyone that shows up here under these posts usually will cry about how you won’t see much performance gains, if any from bolt on mods, that being said, what they always to mention is the tune.
the first thing to do that will get you the most performance gains for your money is to simply get the a quality tuner and get the vehicle tuned!!!
I can’t stress this enough. Only after tuning will things like opening up the exhaust and air intake actually give you any real benefit.

The car you have is a Economy car, with… the economy package! Its a good engine but its very lackluster compared to other options. The car has been tuned from the factory to maximize emissions controls and economy. Just going in and tuning the car for more performance will give you the best bang for your buck and if you plan on doing more you will need a tuner anyways to realize the full potential of those other mods.
after a tune, forced induction will give you the gains you are looking for. You can still get a quality entry level turbo kit for about $600, but you wont be able to take it to the track and thrash is weekly and expect it to last. If you do forces induction, you will then realize heat management will become an issue. So essentially as you creep up the ladder of modifying it, you will enter the never ending loop of, “oh, well, now i guess i have to…
if you keep it under 300hp you can keep that all down to a degree, but with turbos also then come fuel management upgrades, high flow fuel pump, better injectors, etc.

If you do not want to start chasing that rabbit down that endless money pit, get it tuned and maybe at some point do the exhaust and intake and then get it tuned for those upgrades and then STOP! Beyond that, water/methanol injection or nitrous will give you the fun factor of increased power relatively cheap and… safely. Forced induction will impact reliability and longevity the most, especially with a fully stock engine.

i am currently building a 97 LX I4 f22b2 myself and also want to stay with the engine i have, w/the exception that I am open to upgrading the head to a H22 DOHC head and CAM upgrade.
