Check engine light code on 91 accord

Unhappy Check engine light code on 91 accord

My check engine light is on . Im tring to read the code but im not sure how to read it my engine light flashes but just flashes it dont stop i understand that you should count the flashes but it dont pulse it just keep flashing

Try to find a manual for your car on this forum, and research for your symptom. Or take it to a parts store that read the codes for free - Auto Zone or the like - and see what they come up with, and post it back here.

I have a 91 honda accord auto zone dont scan that year

The DIY section has a couple links to detailed instructions for reading the codes yourself. I don't know whether 91 falls into the older system (flashing LED on the ECU); or the newer system (jumper the SCS connector & watch the CEL flash).

95 and earlier fall into OBD I codes and 96 and older fall into OBD II codes. Buy an OBD I reader and post it up.

Both systems I mentioned fall under OBD-1. No need for a "scanner" for OBD-1; just find which method (based on year) & read it.
