Default expert advice needed

hello accord fellows and moderators,
I own a 1997 accord lx sedan with a tired f22b2.
I have a chance to buy a Honda crate short block new old stock.
one minor issue is the model number stamped on the crate engine block is
F22B5. I know there are some things specific to my car like oil pump
for crank sensor etc. I don't wish to modify for performance or anything like that.. just want to freshen the power plant.. I am pretty sure all my accessories ie. compressor, alternator, power steering will bolt up but I am not completely positive.. any advice would be genuinely appreciated. thank you

Have you performed engine compression test to confirm low compressions due to weak ring sealing? There can be many reasons for a "tired engine" that are easily resolved w/o replacing the motor.

Best bet to avoid surprises when swapping motors is to swap exact motor only. There are plenty of engines available for 94-97 accords.

good luck

"Shortblock" usually means without a head. Make sure that your existing head isn't the cause for any lack of compression.
