Yeah, swapping from auto to manual is going to be a pain in the ***, whether its a JDM tranny or not. There's a thread in the DIY area about swapping a manual for automatic.

Cost? I really have no idea. I assume you mean for the install? If thats the case, I would find a shop in your area that does imports and see if they do swaps. Where are you located? Dont want to chance doing it yourself?

 

i kno of a place here in greenville....acutech. im going to give them a call sometime soon. the manual transmission comes with the F/H swap though right? i dont really know much about the swaps, i was just planning on getting an ITR, but this way i dont have to make payments.

 

It would depend on where you get your engine. Some places sell them with trans, some sell without. Some of the trannys are auto, but most of the time they are manuals. You can buy JDM, you can buy USDM, you can buy from eBay or from someone that specializes in engine swap sales. Check these out for a start.

There you go, you're all set! If they sell the swaps, they probably do labor there too, right? At least that would give you two places to compare prices at.

I dont really know how long it will take them, it would probably depend on their workload, how familiar they are with the swap, etc. Thats something else you will definitely want to discuss when you discuss pricing with them.
