Default F22A1 block and A6 head

Hi,

I have 93 LX with tired F22A1. Bought an F22A1 short block with 500 miles on it this weekend. I am thinking of getting F22A6 cylinder head on it and replace it with old F22A1 on the car. I think the heads on these engines are interchangeable except A6 has more aggressive cam and stiffer valve springs. Please confirm this so I can start looking for an A6 head, for now.

I may find intake manifold for A6 as well.

But, for now I am looking to get this car in better running condition than what it is.

yes the a6 will swap with no issues. But make sure you snag the a6 ecu.
All f22a/b blocks are the same. They can swap any f22 head on them. The only difference from the f22 engines are the heads. Everything else is identical inside the block.
If you want a intake manifold upgrade go with a h23 intake manifold.
Go over to cb7tuner.com and do some searching. You will be amazed what can be done to our cb7s

Thank you for quick response.

I was working on getting reman A6 head form this guy but now things he said about the heads he is selling makes me having second thoughts buying from him. I think I should go to local JY and trying find it myself.

Or send the old cam for regrind for a bit more umph.

or you could just snag a f22a6 cam and ecu. The a6 cam can swap into your head with NO issues. I just said the whole head to make it easier. Take the f22a6 cam and ecu and a h23 intake manifold. There will be no tune required and everything will run nice and smooth

What's the way to differentiate the two cam just by looking? I read a write up that says A6 cam has "4B" stamped on one end of the shaft. The guy who posted this comment was saying that he couldn't be 100% sure if "4B" is exclusive to A6 cam.

Can any one confirm on this?

I know there is a code on the dizzy side of the cam. I just don't remember what it is. I don't have mine handy so I can't tell you for sure.

I was in JY this afternoon just to see whats' there. First time in 20+ years. No tools in hand.

Found two A6 engines. I was able to score PT6 ECU from one of chassis. Someone had it removed from floor but did not disconnect plugs. Don't know why??? Guess, it was waiting for me to rescue.

Hope to go back there during this week with tools. At least one of those should be there waiting for me when I get there. Once I remove the head, I will know what it says on the end of the shaft. Will post it here then.

I was in JY today, and pulled A6 head and intake manifold as one assembly.
Camshaft has 3A stamping. ???? This is not what I was expecting,,,,. One of head bolts were not as tight as others were and there is RTV on valve cover gasket/plug holes area on this head. But I don't know if this head was replaced with other engine's,,,. The block said A6. I am a little confused and disapointed.

you have a f22a1/4 head. That is NOT a f22a6. The f22a6 cm should say "4B" "3A" is the f22a1/4 cam shaft.

Yeah, that is what I have been told. Some one stuck that head on to A6 block,,,,, shoot. I hope I have time to go out and do JY hunting this weekend.

I have been away from JY for so many years but now am thinking of going back there three weekends in a row.
