Fuel injection cleaning help
I have a 2003 Accord 4 cyl 2.4 L with 105K miles. I had the oiled changed and the guy at Jiffy lube said I needed my fuel injection cleaned. What's the best approach for cleaning? He pulled the hose to the "injector rail" and said he saw carbon build up. I beleve the "injector rail" is the hose that travels above the cylinders and feeds each injector. Does that sound right? Thank you for the help.

Sounds like a load of bull to me. Jiffy Lube is notorious for screwing people out of money by selling services that are not needed.

^ My first impression is the same. Is the car running well, smooth idle, good mileage? If so a dose of Chevron's Techron (large bottle for 20 gallons) every 3-5 K should keep it that way. Bottle into tank 1st then fillerup!

Be very carefull with Jiffylube. Honda does not recommend running injector cleaner. I find it odd that they would say that there was carbon on the hose to the fuel rail. Only gasoline runs through there, so if there was carbon in there it would mean your fuel was burning before the injectors. The only problem we see at dealership is the electronic part of the injector sticking. Not in Accords newer than 94 yet.

yes lucas make a very good injector cleaner for about 3 bucks but anything with a 4-8 percent jet fuel will be just fine. you will never have any carbon buildup in your fuel rail.....ever....thats like someone telling you that you need a muffler bearing.
