Does your car call for 5W30 or 10W30? Either will work just fine in the spring/summer but you might stick with 5W during very cold temps. The K&N oil filter is a good one but really expensive. Why not use a Wix, Purolator, Hastings, even Wal-Mart's brand are good filters. You could buy two or three for the price of one K&N. As far as the K&N air filter.......if you are replacing the stock panel filter with a similar K&N save your money, you'll not realize any power or mileage gain. If the car is not burning oil the regular Castrol GTX will do just fine.

i have an 98 honda accord with 105,000 and i change my oil every 3000-4000 miles with either 10w30 Mobil 1 Synthetic or sometimes Penzoil Platnim Full Synthetic. i've also used regular oil before but i notice when using Synthetic oil, the car is quieter/smoother when engine just starting and a more power and , especially when accellating. i would highly recommand Mobil 1 or any other full synthetic oil but if all else fails, the next best thing to use is you are right, Castrol GTX high mileage, i also use that before. now to the oil filter, if you change ur oil every 3000-4000 miles, there is no reason to use an expensive oil filter like K&N, i would go with a regular one and change the oil every 3000- 4000 miles. well goodluck!!
If you're changing your oil every 3-4K there's no reason to use expensive synthetic oil!

thanx for the info guys, I am thinking about getting fuel filter changed. If I do, should I notice a difference? (Can you tell my money is burning a hole in my wallet?)

well its a personal choice, but i also notice a difference in my car. i agree with you that is it expensive put Penzoil Platinum Full Synthetic just had a promotion Buy one quart Get one FREE at AdvanceAuto parts and i stocked up, it was pretty cheap.....on the other hand, Mobil one is only like 20-22 bucks for 5 quarts at walmart......not really expensive....my car deserved to be treated well

syntheic is nice and it smoothed out my civic when I used it but I just can't justify the price for the gains....I'm a cheap skate.... as for the fuel filter it's one of those parts that doesn't really affect anything in a negative fashion until it's past due for replacement (don't let it get to that point....) if it hasn't been done in a while I'd replace it but you probably won't notice any difference at all besides peace of mind that your car is going to run longer...

Money burning a hole? get a short ram intake off e-bay for like $40.00 then down the road buy a nice dry filter (oiless) k&n or AEM... then you'll see some minor gains and some nice new sound!
