Hard shifting in a 1995 Honda Accord automatic transmission
I just got a used 1995 Honda Accord with an automatic transmission yesterday, and it's in excellent condition. My father put Lucas in it, which lightened the shifting only slightly. It shifts rather hard when going into every gear, but my main concern is when I would decelerate long enough to make a slight turn or merge, and then try to accelerate immediately afterwards, the rpm would jump to 3 very fast and it sounds almost like the car just revs for a split second. I let off the gas and the car then shifts into gear, but should it take that long to shift and should it do the revving thing?
My father says it could be because I try to accelerate too quickly, or that the car was sitting a while before we bought it. But I'm no mechanic so I wouldn't know.
