How concerned should I be?
Went to get my oil changed today-asked if they carried Mobil-1 5W-20. They said yes. When they were through, it was filled with 5W-20 dino. Told them I needed the Mobil-1. They did not have 5W-20 but did have 5W-30. Had them drain the dino, change out the filter they had just installed and had filled with the 5W-30. I have a 2004 Accord 2.4 litre V-Tech. Is the 5W-30 going to hurt anything? Should I change it out or can I run it?

Thank you-I was hoping that was the case. Guess this is the final straw-will start doing these oil changes myself.
Is Mobil-1 going to launch a 15,000 mile oil in the 5W-20 formula?
As far as filters, would you suggest Honda filters. K&N or another brand.

Be careful with the Honda filters some are made by Fram......not desirable. K&N, Mobil1, Purolator, Wix, and others are good as are the non Fram Honda filters. If the Honda filter says Filtech or is made in Japan it's okay. I doubt that 5W20 will come in jugs/EP which is why I'll switch to M1 5W30 EP when my supply of M1 0W20 runs out.
Keep in mind you will need ramps to change the oil yourself unless you are elastic man. I change my own and it is indeed a pain in the *** but I know it's done right. I had old metal ramps and the front facia scraped badly. The solution was to go get an 8' 2X10 and cut itin half to extend the ramp and change the angle of attack.
I understand the new Rhino Ramps work fine but I can't confirm this.

A 5W is a 5W if it's upper end is a 20 weight or 30 weight. Theoretically both would be identical during cold weather starts.
The exact same engine in a different part of the world will have entirely different oil recommendations than you will find in the U.S.A., always heavier than what is spec'd here.
If I lived in an extremely cold part of the US I'd personally use 5W20, otherwise either will work quite well. In fact before there was 5W20 what did people use....5W30.

Thanks. I've been looking around at Bob Is the Oil Guy and a lot of those folks are using 5W30. I live in northern Indiana-our winters can get on the chilly side. I guess it makes sense to run the 5W-20 in the winter. RTF, what are you seeing with the 15,000 mile M-1? I have now run 2 rounds of synthetic through my Accord. Do you think it is advisable to run it the whole 15,000 miles using a quality filter?

Wanted to pass this along. I purchased a set of the Rhino Ramps (8000 lbs GVW for $29.99) and they work great on my 2004 Accord-no scraping of the front end. I was also able to find K&N oil filters at my local Auto Zone for $12.99-probably higher than purchasing online but I could take them home right away. They did not have a huge selection but was able to get one for my Accord and our 2001 Toyota Sienna van.
