Igniter, Coil or Neither?
I have a 1991 Accord Lx with 145,000. I recently had the check engine light diagnosed. The codes were - # 8(top dead center postion) and # 15(ignition output signal). The shop said it was the distributor, igniter, or coil. The dilemma was that the cap and rotor were junk and they couldn't specifically tell me what the problem was. So I changed those. Sometimes the car starts right up(usually when its been sitting) and the light comes on around 10-15 miles down the road with a small quick drop in RPM. Usually when its hot it will crank over for 10 seconds and start with the light already on, but it always starts. I don't really want to waste another $100 to the shop so they can give me the same codes. Any help would be great. Thanks

RE: Igniter, Coil or Neither?
code 8,.. 99.9 % you need to replace the distributor .. also it would kick a code 15 as well,, rarely a bad ignitor kicks a code 15 although i have seen it happen ,, but again 15 with code 8 .. bad dizzy ..
