hello all of u guys,
i have a 92 honda accord which ran very well until now , but now when i keep the car in drive mode in auto transmission it picks up very slow and the mechanic told that its fail safe mode of transmission and its jumping to second gear directly bypassing first gear. The mechanic also told that its main computer had failed. I want ur advices guys, as it costs arnd 12-1500 dollars now and i am planning to use for just another 6 months, can i run it for next 6 months or if i don't change the main computer will it stop anywhere or can any other problems start?

I've seen this problem caused by the computer and I've also seen it caused by a solenoid.

I'm sure your D4 light is flashing when you put the key in and turn it to "on". If you could pull the code from there (either get a scanner or count the flashes which) we'll have a better idea of what's happening.

yes whenever i am starting and turn key on the light on D4 will be on even when i take reverse the light never goes on from D4, I am wondering should i need to get the main computer , as i am planning to use the car for just another 6months, or can u drive starting and shifting directly to 2nd gear and shif from there on. I also wonder whether the main computer has any other function apart from these?

well yeah if you only using the catr for another 6 moths you can just drive it like a stick and go with d2 d3 d4 thing i guess.

 

Don't buy a tranny computer until you read the code. I don't know '92, but I thought you have to jumper the SCS connector (paperclip) & then the lamp flashes. CEL and D lamp might both be flashing codes. Get each one, because it's a different code list for the D lamp vs. the CEL.
