Default my clutch

How many years and miles should a clutch on my 96 5 speed last. Right now i have over 180,000 miles on the stock clutch which i think sounds like alot. What is the typical clutch lifespan under normal driving. thanks

180,004 miles is as far as it will go!![sm=burnout.gif][sm=burnout.gif]

I'd say you have gone beyond average. It all depends on the driver.

If you drive the car gently then the clutch will last until it shows signs of slippage......The furthest I have heard of was 230K on a 1992 original clutch......

Ouch. I tried to teach my wife how to drive mine. That lasted about ten minutes, in which I was frightened for my life lol.

experience... speed... city or highway driving... how much you shift or start out your car... how much you slip when you start... all affect greatly the life of your clutch... if you learned on the car.... drive fast... in the city... stoping and starting... and slip the hell of the clutch.... it wont last 100k if u do ur good
