Nasty sound when I let the clutch out
This is on my '93 5-speed with 219k miles on it. The problem just started tonight, I was stopped about to make a left turn and when the clutch started to catch i started hearing some sort of clunking/grinding noise from under the car. It happens much worse on left turns than right, but almost not at all when I have the wheels pointed straight.
I was thinking it could be an axle(I've had a split CV boot on one of them for a while) or maybe the tranny. My synchros are kinda crappy and it grinds going into gear sometimes.
When I was trying to figure it out earlier it made the sound when I started letting the clutch out in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, I didn't try 4th or 5th, and for reverse it made and initial "clunk" and then acted normal.
That's all the details I can think of at the moment...any ideas???
