How long was it parked? Any other work done to it just before parking it?

No just tune up stuff that I did before driving it a bunch. I live on the coast so I'm wondering if something corroded or is just wet in the ignition system. I took the cap off and gave it some compressed air but still nothing

Backfiring suggests either firing-order is wrong (plug wires crossed??) or worst case maybe the camshaft timing.

Look real close at the distributor cap. Tracks across the smooth surface can make it much easier to short. With the engine cold, before dawn when it's still completely dark, have someone try to start it while you watch for arcing across the cap or around the plug wires.
