Default p2r Throttle Body space ?'s

Diamondz here with a few questions hopefully someone can help.

I see this p2r throttle body spacer online seems like a nice cheap performance part. Something to keep me modding while the pocket book is sitting small! Whats everyone thought about this. My car already has a greddy intake on it. I see that the descripton of the part is a 3/4" throttle body spacer is designed to fit in between your intake manifold and throttle body, creating a larger volume of air in the intake manifold and optimizing the air path to the cylinders.

Does this really help performace or a waist of money? Next question is, is the spacer allowing me to add a big intake piping to my car or is it designed to fit on my greddy? I really dont get the whole idea of throttle body spacer can someone please explain!
