Sohc or Dohc?

i have an 1998 Honda Accord 3.0L V6 and I've heard many people say it is a Dohc but some people say it is a Sohc? I'm totally confused... Which is better and which one do i have??

It is a SOHC. You have 1 cam under each valve cover.

Engine ID is probably J30A blah blah...

TECHNICALY DOHC but if it was true DOHC it would be QOHC thus if u were refering to it in the normal sence u would call it a SOHC

technically dohc? i am thinking about putting a decal on the side of my car and i dont want to to but the wrong one.

each side of the v6 engine has one over head cam which makes i a sohc, but, since there's two, legionofone refers to it as technically dohc which is not incorrect, he'sjust adding both over head cams, which i guess that was what he meant. but if you are gonna put a decal it should say sohc.....hope it helped!

thanks Kevin..it sure did...wat would you recommend on spark plugs for a my car that onlt has an SRI??

Stock NGK and some NGK Blue wires. Might as well do your distributor cap and rotor, too.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this or not but Accord plug wires are spendy..... I've found that it's only like $10-$50 more (depending on what set you're looking at) to get a good set of Nology wires....

All current J series V6 are SOHC in the USDM including the newest 3.5L and 3.7L used by acura
