Default Tachometer bouncing?

Hello, I have a 1996 Honda Accord, and lately the tachometer is bouncing when I am driving, it will bounce from 1 to 4 continuously, and then sometimes it will doit just a little to none. The car is having no issues while this is happening so I am sure it is just a loose connection or tach. is going bad, or a fuse. But, was wondering if anyone has had this happen or knows what it might be. I am getting ready to move accross country and would like to know that it isn't somthing serious just to be sure.

Thanks for any help,

Charles

easy test to do.... in the engine bay on the drivers side you'll find a blue two wire plug, that's an external tach connection, get a tach and hook it up to it and see if it does the same thing, if it reads/acts normal then you know you've just got a bad tach, then I'll give you a link (or you can search the forums) for a free manual and change it yourself easily....
