Default top end torque.. need new cat?

Hi,

we just bought our second Honda.. a 96 Accord EX-R with 70,000 miles. Really a beautiful car.

I've been surprised, however, that the top end torque isn't better. The timing chain (belt?) was replaced about a year ago.

Could the torque limit signal the need of a new catalytic converter? The original is on the car.. and maybe plugged up?

thanks for your comments.

Not very likely, but you can pull it loose and take a look to be sure.

Have you checked the ignition timing?
