Yeah i was wondering the same thing for mine. Its a 1997 with 185000 on the odometer. Transmission still does fairly decent but it sometimes takes a while to get in 4th. I was thinking about changing the filter till i found out the filter was in the trans. If i have to take out the trans i may as well swap it out for a 5 speed which i'd rather have anyways

Have you changed the transmission fluid regularly? Do some searching on here and youll find a few different methods.

Adding one now would still help. While damage may have already occurred, you are preventing more so.

Tex, a bypass is a great idea! Never really thought of that, but how would that work? I am assuming it would have to be some sort of manual valve or something. And, you sold your Accord?

I had several tow vehicles in the past and all had a manual bypass valve for the winter when I didn't tow. The fluid circulated normally but did not go through the cooler. When I towed, or it got warm, I turned the valve so the cooler would be active.

Yes, I traded my beloved Accord for a RAV4 V-6 and brought it home today (1/31/09) Psst, the V-6 is bodacious!

Hey Rick ..... here's the best reason to get the cooler ..... it's 40 bucks!!! That's about the cheapest insurance that you can buy!!! If it makes the tranny last another week, it was worth it.

Default B&M

Has anyone installed a B&M cooler. I believe it has a bypass for cold weather. I'm looking at getting this one.

If the bypass is the deciding factor, realize that it is just a 3-way valve and should not increase the price much more than 10 bucks.

Default 06 V6 tranny cooler

You best look for the tranny cooler lines into and out of the bottom of the radiator before you buy a cooler. None on my 05 Accord V6 because it doesn't have a conventional tranny cooler. Guaranteed to **** off a few.
