Default transmission slip?

Hello,

I recently been having some issue with my 1992 hond accord (automatic).
The Check Engine Light is OFF. All light indicators are OFF.

Will driving sometimes my car will appear to downshift.
It will stay like that for a bit (few days ) and then it goes away, comes back.

I'll be "drive 4", but it feels like i'm in "drive 3". When I put it into park the lights for "park" and "drive 4"
might be illuminated. When in "drive 4" sometimes "drive 3 & 4" are illuminated.

The RPMs seem high. In park, or when stationary I'm at 1RPM already

I checked the web for advice, I found recommendations to

1) check the transmission fluid
2) transmission flush
3) that it might be a early indication of transmission/clutch issues,
4) internal seal in the clutch going.

Any insights what might be causing this? Do the above seem correct ? Or has anyone had experience with these symptoms their Honda? Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. Worth fixing? A transmission fluid flush seems to be worth a shot. But I understand a transmissions issue is really expensive, so time to get a new Honda?

thanks!

j

I'd check for stored codes in the ECU and TCU.
