Default Vvt sprocket and intake cam

Hey all, thanks for reading. New to hondas and timing chains. I went to replace my vvt sprocket because it was making the well-known rattle. I used my neighbor's air compressor (good up to 75 psi discharge) to lock the sprocket, and reinstalled everything. Chain was tight, but when i turned the engine by hand it skipped teeth on the vvt sprocket. Any ideas on what i did wrong? I did not hear a click when i used the compressor, and the sprocket has just the amount of rotational play. I have seen where some people had to replace their cam and sprocket and start over, but neither one looks damaged to me. Any help is much appreciated
